What we Believe

A Brief Statement of Belief

This statement is not meant to be all-encompassing and there may be other issues about which you have questions. Please feel free to contact us at 541-386-1049 and request to speak to the pastor about any doctrinal issues.

The Doctrinal Beliefs of Tucker Road Baptist Church are solely and completely founded upon the Bible, the inerrant Word of God.            2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21; Proverbs 30:5-6.

We believe that God has taken the initiative to reveal Himself to man. He has done this in two ways, by means of general revelation and special revelation.

In general revelation, God has revealed Himself visibly through His creation. It’s visible reality manifests and testifies to His existence, His divine nature, and His eternal power, His providential care, His goodness, and His glory. From creation man is able to learn of the existence of God.

In special revelation, God has taken the initiative again to more fully reveal Himself, His character, and His plan of salvation to mankind. In the past these have included special events such as direct speech, the burning bush, dreams and visions, theophany’s, the Law, the prophets, and most clearly through the incarnation and life of Jesus Christ, the perfect revelation, the living Word of God. In the present God speaks through His Word the Holy Scriptures, for the express purpose of reestablishing mankind’s broken relationship, and for His own glory.

We believe that every word of the Bible is inspired by God, is without error, and is the supreme authority regarding what men and women are to believe, and how they are to live. We believe that the Bible is sufficient, necessary, authoritative, and clear.

We believe that there is one Triune God, the Creator, Sustainer, Ruler of all things, who does all things by the council of His own will and for his own glory.

We believe that Jesus Christ is the second person of the Trinity, He is coeternal, coequal, and of the same essence and nature with God the Father, and God the Holy Spirit. Jesus Chrsit became fully man without surrendering his Deity, lived a perfect life, willingly gave up His life to atone for the sins of the world, rose again on the third day, and is now seated at the right hand of the Father.

We believe that the Holy Spirit is the eternal third person of the Trinity, coeternal, coequal, and of the same essence and nature with God the Father and God the Son, who is actively at work in the world today, convicting unbelievers of sin, saving men and women, and bringing them to completion.

We believe that God created the heavens and the earth in a literal six-day, 24 hour period as revealed in the Books of Genesis and the Book of Exodus. That God created all men and women in His own image and likeness, and they are the crowning work of His creation.

We believe that because of Adam’s sin all mankind is born with a sin nature, is born totally depraved and spiritually unable to please God and each person will be held accountable, judged, and rewarded or punished accordingly.

We believe that salvation is the work of God freely offered to all men and women, and is bestowed by grace and faith alone. It is received by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, manifested in good works, and brings new spiritual life, the forgiveness of sins, reconciliation to God, the imputation of the righteousness of Jesus Christ, and the guarantee that whose saved will experience eternal live.

We believe in the Priesthood of all believers, that every person has equal assess to God the Father though God the Son, Jesus Christ.

We believe in the Church, one universal and spiritual body, of which Christ is the head, and is gathered in local bodies, to whom are committed the ordinances of believers baptism and the Lord’s Supper, with the corporate purpose of glorifying God through worship, the edification of the saints, and the communication of the gospel to the world.

We believe that the local church is an independent and self-governing body comprised of baptized believers who are associated by covenant and fellowship with other churches of like faith and beliefs.

We believe in the imminent return of Jesus Christ, the rapture of the church, the great tribulation, the millennial reign of Christ, the resurrection and judgment of all mankind, and that the eternal destiny of the wicked will be in Hell while the righteous will live in Heaven, forever in the presence of God.

And, we believe that God has given each person a free will. Therefore, you are free to choose to accept His free gift of salvation through Jesus Christ, and you are equally free to reject His free gift of salvation through Jesus Christ. God's Word clearly states that, "The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise as some understand slowness. Instead He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance." You are totally, completely, 100% free to choose what you will believe and who you will believe in.

But, please remember, "Your Decision has Consequences, and to Not Decide is a Decision."

Love You,

Tucker Road Baptist Church.
